Questions about our cycling holidays
It’s simple: you cycle, we take care of the rest!
From choosing your route and hotels, through the booking process, to the provision and maintenance of the bikes and the transport of your luggage – we organise your trip whilst you enjoy a truly special cycling holiday.
Once you’ve made your own way to the starting point, you’re ready to go: constantly updated travel documents will guide you along the way. You can cycle with complete peace of mind, as we’ll of course transport your luggage to your next hotel. And should you ever have a breakdown or get stuck, we’re on hand to offer help and advice via our emergency hotline.
On all Radweg-Reisen cycling tours, your luggage is transported from hotel to hotel every day – so you set off each morning with a light bike and no heavy bags.
Also included are detailed travel documents with GPS tracks and route descriptions, hand-picked accommodation at each stage, and personalised advice before and during your trip. Some tours also include bike hire, boat trips or guided city tours – all details are listed in the relevant tour description.
- Circular tours
The final stage of your cycling holiday takes you back to your point of arrival. - Cycling holidays or point-to-point tours
Your destination is not your point of arrival. You can make your way back to your parked car either by booking a return transfer or by using public transport on your own. - Cycle and Cruise
You explore the most beautiful routes by bike, whilst your floating hotel awaits you at the next destination. You’ll also find a selection of cycle and sailing holidays amongst our cycle and cruise holidays! - Family Holidays
Shorter stages that even the youngest members of the family can manage with plenty of time. Exciting sights await you along the way on our family holidays. You’ll cycle on routes that stay as far away from busy roads as possible – because we know what matters most on a family holiday!
If you’re not sure whether your children can manage a particular tour, just give us a call. - Star Tours
You’ll stay in the same hotel every night during your trip and explore the region on daily cycling tours radiating out into the surrounding countryside. There’s no need to pack your bags every day, and if you don’t feel like getting on your bike one day, you can simply give it a miss. - Mountain bike tours
For lovers of single tracks and fast-paced downhill rides, we’ve included our mountain bike tours in the programme. As these tours require a little experience, they are marked separately.
We primarily offer self-guided cycling tours. This means you travel independently, without a tour leader. These tours give you complete freedom. The start date, your pace, and when you wish to take a break along the way are entirely up to you.
On a guided tour, you cycle in a small group of around 8 to 20 people and are accompanied by a tour leader. These tours are limited to fixed dates.
Guided tours are always clearly marked as such on our website! If you do not see this marking on your chosen trip, you can assume that you will be travelling independently.
Bad weather is no reason to cancel a cycling holiday. If, for once, you really don’t feel like getting on your bike, you can, of course, travel to your next hotel by train or boat.
In our travel documents, you’ll find numerous options for shortening the various stages.
If you ever find yourself stuck whilst travelling, please contact our emergency hotline. The emergency hotline is available seven days a week. That way, you won’t be left to cope on your own if the worst comes to the worst.
You’ll find the emergency hotline number in your travel documents!
We at Radweg-Reisen run these tours ourselves. This means that everything – from the initial idea right through to the actual delivery – is handled entirely by us. On Radweg-Reisen tours, the red hire bikes are at your disposal and we organise the transport of your luggage.
As we cannot be on site everywhere, we work with carefully selected partners for trips run by local partners.
This means, for example, that the hire bikes may not be red, but they are of exactly the same high quality.
All our tours begin once you have made your own way to the starting point of the cycling or walking tour. This means you are responsible for organising your own journey there.
We do not arrange train, bus or flight tickets.
These do exist – but unfortunately we cannot make a general statement about children’s discounts. Every trip is different. Simply enquire about your chosen trip and we’ll be happy to provide you with further information!
You can find an overview of our discounts and whether they can be combined with one another under ‘Discounts and Offers’.
Of course! You can find the relevant form here: www.radweg-reisen.com/feedback
It depends: cycle and boat holidays are generally not suitable for dogs, as there simply isn’t enough space for them to run about on the boats.
If you’ve opted for a standard cycling holiday, it’s much more likely to work out. Just let us know when you book that you’d like to bring your four-legged friend along. We’ll then do our very best and only contact hotels that are happy to accommodate dogs. To help with this, it’s useful to know what sort of dog you have: what breed is it, and how big or heavy is it?
Incidentally, some hotels charge an additional fee per night for dogs. This can range from 5 to 30 euros per night and is payable by you directly to the hotel on arrival.
A voucher for a cycling holiday is always a great gift idea. Please feel free to contact us! We’ll need the following information: your billing address, the amount in euros and the name of the recipient. We’ll send the voucher, along with a catalogue, to the billing address you provide. If you need it quickly, we can also send the voucher to you by email. The voucher will be activated once payment has been received and can be redeemed for any trip in our programme.
Questions about rental bikes
You don’t need to bring your own bike. Radweg-Reisen offers bike hire at almost all departure points – including comfortable trekking bikes and e-bikes for anyone who’d like to tackle mountainous routes at a more leisurely pace.
On the bike hire page, you can find out more about our hire bikes. We also outline the various options available for our younger and youngest cycling holiday guests.
Of course. However, the advantages of a hire bike should not be underestimated:
- The hire bike is state-of-the-art and will be waiting for you at your hotel on arrival.
- If you haven’t booked a round trip, the effort involved in getting back to the starting point with your luggage and bike is considerable.
- In the event of a breakdown, the hire bike can be replaced, or we will reimburse you for the repair costs.
Unfortunately, we do not currently offer bicycle helmets for hire at our Konstanz branch. However, you do have the option of purchasing a suitable bicycle helmet on site. We always recommend wearing a helmet on every cycling trip.
Of course. Simply hand in your saddle bag and handlebar bag at the reception of your last hotel. It’s best to ask there for a suitable place where you can leave your bike. We’ll automatically arrange for the bikes to be collected.
Probably, but we can’t give a blanket answer. If you’ve booked one or more extra nights at the start or end of your trip and would therefore like to use your hire bike a day earlier or for longer, it’s best to let us know directly when you make your booking.
For trips organised by us (marked as ‘Radweg-Reisen Tours’), the hire bikes are available for the extra nights at no extra cost.
Even on tours organised by our partner operators, it’s usually no problem for you to use your bike for longer. However, extended bike use and, in most cases, unscheduled bike transport to your start or end hotel may incur additional costs, which we will, of course, keep to a minimum and inform you of in advance.
Questions about luggage transfer
You usually hand in your luggage at the hotel reception by 9.00 am. Our luggage drivers will transport your luggage to the next hotel whilst you enjoy a relaxing day’s cycling. To ensure that every item of luggage reaches its destination as quickly as possible, the luggage drivers’ route often does not follow your cycling route.
As each cycle tour operator organises its own luggage logistics, we are unable to provide a general statement regarding the number and maximum weight of luggage items. You will usually find this information under ‘Dates / Prices / Inclusions’ for the relevant tour.
If you are travelling on a Radweg-Reisen tour, we at Radweg-Reisen will take care of your luggage transport. On these tours, you can take as many items of luggage as you need. However, a single suitcase must not weigh more than 20 kg. So if you’re unsure, it’s best to pack two bags. Our luggage handlers will thank you for it!
You leave your luggage at your accommodation in the morning. While you enjoy your daily cycling stage, we transport your luggage to your next accommodation.
No. On our cycling holidays, we take care of the luggage transfer, so you can enjoy your daily stages without having to worry about your luggage.
Your luggage is transported to your next accommodation on the day you arrive. Depending on the route and your arrival time, it may already be there when you arrive or reach the accommodation during the afternoon or early evening.
We recommend keeping valuables, important documents, medication and anything else you may need during the day with you.
On most of our cycling holidays, you change accommodation every day. If you prefer to avoid packing your suitcase each day, our self-guided centre-based tours and bike & boat tours are a good alternative. You stay at the same accommodation or on the same boat throughout the trip while still enjoying the convenience of a perfectly organised cycling holiday.
The exact luggage allowance may vary depending on the trip. You will find the relevant information in the individual tour description and in your travel documents.
Questions about booking
There are three ways to book a trip:
- Online booking
You can send us the booking form via our website. - Booking by telephone
You can call us to book over the phone.
+49 7531 81 99 30 - By post
You can post the booking form from our cycling holiday catalogue to us at:
Radweg-Reisen GmbH, Fritz-Arnold-Straße 16A, 78467 Konstanz
You’ll find the ‘Book here’ button twice on all our online holiday pages: once at the top, next to the panoramic image, and a second time right at the bottom, below the itinerary.
The booking form will then open in a new window. Simply follow the steps through the form. Your current tour price will always be displayed, depending on the services you have selected.
If you encounter any problems during the booking process, please simply give us a call.
The details we definitely need from you are as follows:
- Travel dates
- Contact details of the main booker, including email address and telephone number
- First names and surnames of fellow travellers
- If booking a hire bike: the type of bike and the height of each traveller
- Booking code / name of the tour, and the selected category if applicable
- Accommodation (double / single / triple / quadruple room)
- Are additional nights required? If so, when and where?
- Is a return transfer required, if applicable?
- Is half-board, i.e. breakfast and dinner, required?
You can also let us know any special requirements or requests that we should be aware of when booking your trip – such as food allergies or a request for separate beds in a double room – on the last page of the booking form. This will enable us to clarify your requirements with the hotels in advance.
Once you have completed your booking, you will receive confirmation of receipt of your booking by the next working day at the latest. From that point onwards, we will start organising your trip: we will make enquiries about and book hotels, arrange luggage transport and provide hire bikes.
We are usually able to confirm your trip within 3 to 4 working days. If this is not the case, we will contact you to clarify any outstanding issues.
Simply give us a call if you’d like to go away at short notice. We’ll do our best to make your trip possible. However, we always need at least two days’ notice.
For last-minute bookings, payment can only be made by credit card. Your travel documents will be left for you at your hotel on arrival; we’ll email you some preliminary information and the list of hotels.
Of course, we do everything in our power to accommodate your requests. However, last-minute changes can sometimes involve a considerable amount of work for us and our partner tour operators. If, for example, you wish to postpone your trip by one day at short notice, not only do we have to cancel and rebook hotel rooms, but we also have to reschedule the transport of your luggage. We also need to ensure that your hire bike is fully pumped up and freshly oiled and ready for you. It is therefore possible that we may charge you an additional fee, which we will, of course, keep as low as possible and inform you of in advance.
If you have any specific questions, please ask our booking team for advice.
We usually send you your travel documents around two weeks before your arrival.
In some cases, such as with last-minute bookings, we may leave your travel documents for you at your first hotel. Should this be the case, we will of course send you preliminary information by email before you set off. This preliminary information includes, amongst other things, your personalised list of hotels.
Questions about invoicing
No. Should you have forgotten to make the (remaining) payment, our accounts department will contact you in confidence.
You’re welcome. We’ll email you a link that you can use to pay conveniently by credit card.
Each traveller may transfer their share of the total amount independently of their travelling companions, provided they quote the invoice number. We do not issue separate invoices.
