Bike tours in autumn have long been among the insider tips among our guests! Many hours of sunshine and mild temperatures await you not only at Lake Constance and Moselle, but of course also in the south of Europe!

Autumn cycling holidays have long been among our guests’ top insider tips – and for good reason. The stifling summer heat is over, the countryside glows with warm colours, and the cycle paths are noticeably quieter. In September and October, you’ll find ideal conditions in southern Germany: clear air, pleasant temperatures and plenty of places to stop for a break. The grape harvest begins on the Moselle – on the Moselle Wine Tour, you’ll cycle from vineyard to vineyard, experiencing the wine, landscape and culture up close.

If you’d like to soak up some more sun or take a dip in the sea, southern Europe offers ideal destinations. It’s precisely in those places where the summer heat is often too intense – Sardinia, Croatia, Andalusia, the Costa Blanca – that you’ll find the most pleasant conditions in autumn.

Our tip: Our trips to Madeira, Lanzarote and the Costa Blanca are available to book all year round, from January to December. This means you can enjoy carefree cycling even in the middle of winter, with mild temperatures of between 18 and 22 degrees – whilst the heating is on back in Germany.

Popular autumn cycling tours in Germany and Southern Europe

In southern Germany, September and October are the quietest and often the most beautiful weeks for cycling – the peak season is over, and the paths are clear. Around Lake Constance, the vineyards glow in rich autumn colours, whilst on the Moselle it is harvest time. If you want to combine both, September is the best time to go – the grapes are still on the vines, the temperatures are ideal, and the harvest festivals invite you to linger.

From October onwards, it’s worth looking south: Croatia still has swimming-friendly temperatures in autumn, without the summer crowds. Spain and Portugal offer pleasant conditions well into November. And for those who fancy a trip on the water: our cycle and boat tours in Croatia have autumn dates which, in our experience, are particularly popular.

In southern Germany, cycling holidays are often possible until the end of October – particularly around Lake Constance and along the Moselle, where the grape harvest heralds the most beautiful time of autumn. The exact dates are specified for each tour.
