You leisurely follow the Main bike path towards the north-west. Shortly after leaving the demarcation of Würzburg you will reach Veitshöchheim. The palace there once served as the summer residence of Würzburg's prince-bishop. Its rococo gardens are among the most beautiful in Europe. Follow along the Main river until you reach Gemünden, the gateway to the Spessart. From the Scherenburg castle above you will have a fantastic view over the Main valley. From Würzburg, follow the 2-Franconia Bike Path on your bike tour around Würzburg. Today it takes you through wide open spaces along vegetable and grain fields.
