Map – Cycling Tour at Lake Constance

Itinerary

Day 1

Individual arrival in Constance

Your cycling tour around Lake Constance begins in the largest city, Constance. After checking in, hop on your bike to explore the historic district, including Niederburg and the vibrant harbor area. Be sure to visit the Constance Minster and consider climbing its 193 steps to the viewing platform, where you'll be rewarded with fantastic views of the town and the lake. If you're interested in visiting the flower island of Mainau (entry not included), we recommend arriving early. There, you can wander through vibrant flower gardens, admire diverse plant life, traverse the Italian staircase, and visit the tropical butterfly house.

Day 2

Constance – Friedrichshafen

approx. 40 / 45 km + boat trip

You begin by cycling along the shores of Lake Constance to Wallhausen, where a boat takes you across the lake to the historic imperial town of Überlingen. Take time to stroll along its lively waterfront promenade and visit the impressive Gothic minster. From here, the Lake Constance Cycle Path leads through a delightful landscape of vineyards and orchards, with magnificent views across the lake and, on clear days, towards the Alps. A stop in romantic Meersburg is particularly worthwhile, with its winding lanes, historic castle and picturesque waterfront. You then continue along the lakeshore to Friedrichshafen, where the Zeppelin Museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of the legendary airships.

Day 3

Friedrichshafen – Lindau / Bregenz

approx. 25 / 35 km

From Friedrichshafen, you cycle through extensive orchards, enjoying beautiful views of Lake Constance on your way to Langenargen. The town’s most distinctive landmark is Montfort Castle, set directly on the lakeshore and lending it an almost fairytale appearance with its Moorish-inspired architecture. You then cross the River Argen on a historic suspension bridge and follow the Lake Constance Cycle Path through the idyllic wine-growing and fruit-farming villages along the Bavarian shore. Passing through Nonnenhorn and Wasserburg, you eventually reach the island town of Lindau. Its famous harbour entrance, framed by the Bavarian Lion and the New Lighthouse, provides an impressive finale to your cycling stage. Take some time to stroll through the listed old town, with its winding lanes, historic townhouses and lively squares.

Day 4

Lindau – Horn

approx. 40 km

You will reach Bregenz in Austria on flat paths. Since there are many opportunities for swimming along the shore, take the opportunity to jump into the cool waters of Lake Constance. In good weather, a trip to the local mountain Pfänder is also worthwhile. The Pfänder cable car will take you quickly and silently up to the mountain station. From up here you have a great view of Lake Constance and the Alpine peaks. After this excursion, your bike tour will take you further into Switzerland and the Rheindelta nature reserve. Afterwards you cycle towards your today‘s stage destination Horn.

Day 5

Horn – Constance

approx. 35 km

From Horn, you follow the Swiss shore of Lake Constance to Arbon. Its medieval old town, with pretty half-timbered houses, the castle and St Martin’s Church, is well worth a short stop. The Lake Constance Cycle Path then leads through Thurgau’s picturesque fruit-growing countryside, returning time and again to the lakeshore on the way to Romanshorn, known for its bustling harbour and attractive waterfront promenade. From here, you continue through small fishing and farming villages, mostly close to the lake and with beautiful views across the water. Passing through Münsterlingen and Kreuzlingen, you eventually arrive back in Constance. Round off your journey with a leisurely stroll through the historic old town or an ice cream by the harbour.

Day 6

Individual departure or extension

After breakfast, your Easy Upper Lake Constance Cycling Tour with Charme comes to an end. If you wish, we would be happy to arrange an extension of your stay at beautiful Lake Constance, allowing you to enjoy more of this stunning region.
