Cycling holidays through the Allgäu

The Allgäu attracts visitors with historic towns, baroque churches, and Roman relics. The colors of nature are spectacular, just like the mountains with melodious names like Großer Krottenkopf or Nebelhorn. The Allgäu is so charming, you will love it!

If you are planning cycling holidays in the Allgäu, you can look forward to a varied tour through Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and Tyrol. Thanks to a very well-signposted network of routes between Lake Constance and the Lech River, the Allgäu region offers numerous tours for cyclists of all levels of fitness. No wonder that so many well-known long-distance cycle routes such as the Allgäu Cycle Route, Lake Constance-Königssee Cycle Route, Lake Constance Cycle Route, Danube-Lake Constance Cycle Route, Iller Cycle Route, and the Allgäu Cycle Tour can be ridden here.

The paths are mainly asphalted and often lead along car-free, old railway lines. More than 40 castles, fortresses, and ruins are waiting to be discovered by you. The most famous representatives are none other than Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau. Green meadows and pastures from which curious cow eyes gaze after you, clear lakes, but also countless gorges with waterfalls, such as the Höllschlucht Gorge or the Breitachklamm Gorge can be found in abundance in the Allgäu. Behind them, the astonishing mountain world rises up to the sky. Historical buildings, for example in Füssen, Isny, or Kempten, bring history to life. Highlights and tours in the Allgäu

From Lindau, you’ll cycle through the Allgäu on this cycle tour. You can use your two nights’ stay in Oberstaufen to relax at the Aquaria water park or take the mountain railway up to the 1,800-metre-high local peak, the Hochgrat, from where you’ll enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. On the remaining days, you’ll cycle through lush green meadows, alongside sparkling lakes and, of course, see enchanting castles and fortresses.

You’ll experience the entire Lake Constance–Königssee Cycle Route on this 14-day cycling tour from Lake Constance to Königssee. Two weeks filled with Alpine peaks, lakes, fairytale castles, ornately decorated town houses and superb cuisine. Once you arrive in Salzburg, be sure to take the time to explore this wonderful city in depth.

For experienced and fit cyclists who aren’t put off by longer stages and a few climbs, we offer our challenging Allgäu Cycle Tour. The route starts in Kressbronn on Lake Constance. You’ll climb a few metres in altitude via Füssen and Kempten, but you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of the Allgäu.

The Danube–Lake Constance Cycle Route is similarly challenging. Starting in Constance, the cycle tour takes you through Upper Swabia and the Allgäu. Ulm is a real highlight, as are the smaller towns such as Sigmaringen and Ehingen.

From Lake Constance to the Danube and into the Allgäu by bike: That’s the name of this nine-day journey through the Lake Constance hinterland. This cycle tour also begins in the largest city on Lake Constance, Constance. The Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen are the first highlight. You’ll cycle through the Hegau region with its extinct volcanoes. Near Beuron, you’ll reach the Danube Gorge, then Sigmaringen, before heading for the Upper Swabian spa region. Visit the world’s only Spätzle Museum. Once you arrive in the Allgäu, Wangen will enchant you with its numerous fountains and artfully restored historic buildings.

The cycle tour from Augsburg to Neuschwanstein Castle is a circular route along the Lech Cycle Path, taking you through the border region between Bavarian Swabia and Upper Bavaria. Starting in Augsburg, the city of the Fugger family, this cycle tour introduces you to Lake Ammer and Lake Wörth. The Andechs Abbey Church is one of the most famous attractions in the Bavarian Alpine foothills, which you can visit. Via Füssen, you’ll reach King Ludwig’s fairytale castles, Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein.

You really shouldn’t miss this cycling tour along the Romantic Road. From the enchanting town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Neuschwanstein Castle, along the world-famous Romantic Road, you’ll cycle through charming towns such as Dinkelsbühl, Augsburg and Füssen over the course of nine days. The natural scenery is fabulous and the Alpine panoramas are truly breathtaking. The tour offers a very special highlight right from the start in Rothenburg: a guided tour of the town with the night watchman, which is already included in the tour price.
