Bursfelde

Your first stage of the tour leads you through the Hessen Weserbergland region, past Reinhardshagen and the former Benedictine Monastery of Bursfelde in the Romanesque style. The pretty baroque town of Bad Karlshafen, where you will be spending the night, offers you the opportunity to visit the State approved saltwater thermal baths or the Huguenot museum. You will leave the foothills of the Solling behind you, before reaching the Fürstenberg castle, which is yet another great example of the Weser-Renaissance.

Hamelin

Passing through the old Hanseatic town of Höxter with its numerous wooden-framed houses, you will reach Bodenwerder, the home of Münchhausen - with his birthplace and a commemoration room. Leaving the towns of Holzminden, which is well known for their perfumes and aromatic essences, you will follow the run of the river through romantic villages until you reach Hamelin. Day 4 Hamelin - Minden, approx. 70 km

Minden

Day 5 Minden - Nienburg, approx. 65 km

The countryside becomes more gentle as you cycle onwards: broad, lush green meadows replace the wooded hills, only the wind turbines break the view of the distance. You now find yourself in the historically significant area of the Middle-Weser: small farmyard cafés invite you to stop and have a rest, fruit-fields offer you the chance to pick your own fresh fruit. Today’s destination is the medieval fortress town of Nienburg. Traces of its eventful history can be found throughout the town – follow the bear paws!

Day 6 Nienburg - Verden, approx. 60 km

The landscape and scenery of the Middle Weser is characterised by the flat Weser marshes, fields, woods and broad moors and bogs. In Verden you will be able to visit the cathedral and history museum. The town become famous as a horse and jockey town. Today, the town still has a very successful horse-breeding business and since 1949 has been the site of an internationally well-known horse auction. Day 7 Verden - Bremen, approx. 55 km

Bremen

Today you will only cycle for a short while: the Hanseatic city of Bremen is waiting to be explored. Like almost no other German city, Bremen combines urban flair with friendliness, historical ambience with modernity and cultural variety with typical Hanseatic atmosphere.
