Itinerary

Day 1

Individual arrival in Treves / Ruwertal

Arrive early in the picturesque Ruwer Valley, located at the gates of Treves, to allow ample time to explore the ancient Roman city. With a history spanning over 2,000 years, the city’s past is evident at every turn. Key landmarks include the iconic Porta Nigra, the Romanesque Dreikönigenhaus, and the elegant Rococo palace of the electors, each offering a glimpse into the city's rich heritage. In the evening, you'll unwind amidst the tranquil vineyards, where your pre-arranged rental bikes will be ready for your use.

Day 2

Treves – Piesport / Wintrich

approx. 45 / 50 km

You follow the Ruwer valley upstream towards the Moselle. In the small village of Mehring, with its famous ruins of the Villa Rustica, it's worth taking a stroll through the narrow streets. Take a look at one or the other of the winegrowers' farms before cycling to the educational wine trail near Trittenheim. In the afternoon, you’ll reach Neumagen-Dhron, Germany’s oldest wine-growing village. You’ll then continue on to your accommodation for the night.

Day 3

Piesport / Wintrich – Reil / Burg

approx. 55 km

After a few kilometers, you'll reach the charming wine village of Piesport, renowned for its exceptional Piesporter Goldtröpfchen. Take time to savor the region's famed wines and experience its unique character. Continue your journey to Bernkastel-Kues, where you can stroll through the medieval marketplace, admire the picturesque gabled half-timbered houses, and explore the Moselle Wine Museum. The route follows the banks of the Moselle to Zeltingen, home to the famous Zeltinger Himmelreich vineyard. You’ll cycle through the Kröver Nacktarsch wine-growing region on your way to Burg or Reil.

Day 4

Reil / Burg – Pommern / Treis-Karden

approx. 60 km

Today the Wine tour along the Moselle leads you through the scenic wine-growing region of Zeller Schwarze Katz as you make your way to Bullay. Here, a unique double-decker bridge spans the Moselle, linking the town with Alf on the opposite bank. Continue to the enchanting town of Beilstein, often referred to as the "Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle," before heading to Cochem to visit the historic Reichsburg Castle. Try the fruity Riesling from the world-famous steep slate slopes before cycling on towards the villages of Pommern and Treis-Karden.

Day 5

Pommern / Treis-Karden – Koblenz

approx. 45 km

Today, take a detour to the stunning medieval Eltz Castle, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful castles in Germany. After exploring this architectural gem, return to the Moselle Cycle Path and continue to the historic village of Kobern-Gondorf. Here, we recommend a visit to a terraced winery, where the steep, rocky slopes are cultivated by hand, offering a true taste of the region’s wine-growing tradition. As you cycle through Winningen, you'll eventually reach the iconic Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle meets the mighty Rhine River.

Day 6
