Itinerary

Day 1

Individual arrival in Constance

Welcome to your bike trip around Lake Constance! You’ll set off from Konstanz, the largest town on the lake. Why not make the most of your arrival day to explore the old town and the Niederburg? Or how about a visit to the harbour, the Imperia statue, or taking in the view of the town from the cathedral tower?

Day 2

Constance – Lindau

approx. 50 km + ferry ride

Your first stage begins with a ferry crossing across Lake Constance to Meersburg. Take the time to visit Germany’s oldest inhabited castle. You’ll cycle along flat paths through the wine-growing and holiday resorts of Hagnau and Immenstaad to Friedrichshafen. Here, a visit to the Zeppelin Museum is well worth it – and not just for technology enthusiasts. Your cycle tour continues through a nature reserve to Eriskirch and the lovely little holiday resorts of Langenargen, Kressbronn and Wasserburg, before reaching the end of the stage. The island town of Lindau welcomes you with the Bavarian lion at the famous harbour entrance.

Day 3

Lindau – Arbon

approx. 50 km

On beautiful flat paths along the shore of Lake Constance, your bike trip will soon take you to Bregenz in Austria. As there are many opportunities for swimming along the shore. Refreshed, you explore the capital of Vorarlberg and its famous lake stage of the festival. In good weather, a trip to the local mountain Pfänder is also worthwhile. From up here you have a great view of Lake Constance and around 240 Alpine peaks. After this excursion, your bike trip takes you further into Switzerland and the Rhine Delta nature reserve. If there is still time, make a detour to Altenrhein. Here you will find the Hundertwasser Hall, the last building by the famous artist. Afterwards, you cycle towards your today's stage destination Arbon.

Day 4

Arbon – Constance

approx. 30 km

The last day of your bike trip on Lake Constance takes you through the Swiss canton Thurgau. The cycle path runs mostly parallel to the lakeshore, past numerous apple orchards for which the region is famous. There are many opportunities to take a break for a swim along this route. Again and again you cycle through small picturesque villages. Your bike trip continues leisurely until you cross the state border at Kreuzlingen and are back at the starting point. Since you will spend another night in Constance, there are many opportunities to explore this beautiful city on this day. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town and through the oldest part of town, Niederburg, not far from the cathedral with its many small wine taverns.
