Itinerary
Individual arrival in Desenzano
Desenzano is located on the south-western shore of Italy's largest lake and was an important trading post in the Middle Ages. After your accommodation, take a walk along the Lungolago Cesare Battisti lakeside promenade or stroll across Piazza Matteotti and the Ponte alla Veneziana bridge to the picturesque old harbor of Porto Vecchio. If you would like to relax, a trip to Sirmione is worthwhile, with numerous beautiful bathing spots around the island. For wellness lovers, a visit to the thermal baths is well worthwhile.
Excursion to Trento
The day starts with a minibus ride to Trento. There you will have plenty of time to explore the cultural landmarks of the Alpine city. Visit the Bishop's Castle and the Neptune Fountain on the cathedral square. Then continue by bike along the Adige. Once you arrive in Mori, it's worth paying a visit to the Gelateria Bologna. You can take a break there and treat yourself to a portion of the famous pistachio ice cream. Freshly fortified, you will hardly notice the short climb. The descent to the lake follows, where you can relax your legs. From Riva, a boat takes you back to Sirmione. Spend the trip relaxing on deck and admiring the surroundings from the water.
Excursion to Verona
Take the train from Lake Garda to Verona. During your leisurely stroll through the picturesque city, you will come across numerous historical monuments. You will be amazed by the Renaissance palaces and the Roman Arena, which is world-famous for its opera performances. Experience how the drama Romeo and Juliet comes to life before your eyes. Because you will come across places associated with Shakespeare all over the city. You leave Verona behind you and cycle over rolling hills, past cypresses and vineyards. You will soon reach your destination - the southern shore of Lake Garda.
Excursion to Mantua
Today's excursion on your cycling vacation takes you to the south. You cycle along the River Mincio on beautiful paths to Mantua. You will be accompanied by the chirping of numerous birds and can enjoy the varied landscape with bamboo, tree-lined avenues and small woods. Surrounded by lakes on three sides, the city looks like an island from afar. Numerous sights await your visit. One of the main attractions is certainly the enormous Palazzo Duccale with its 450 rooms. Would you rather enjoy nature than culture? On a boat trip on the lakes around Mantua, you will encounter rare water birds and see lush carpets of lotus flowers. The return trip to Lake Garda is a relaxed journey by train.
Excursion to Solferino
You cycle leisurely along secluded paths through wine-growing areas and kiwi plantations to Solferino. The town is known for the famous Battle of Solferino, in which the Kingdom of Sardinia achieved an important victory over Austria in 1859. A small museum commemorates the historic events, which were a decisive step towards the reunification of Italy and ultimately led to the founding of the Red Cross aid organization. Take a stroll through the town center, which is characterized by narrow streets and typical Italian flat-roofed houses. As Lake Garda is not far away, you can also cycle back today. Flat paths lead you through the area where the sparkling wines of Lugana are grown
Excursion to Brescia
Today you cycle along the lakeshore towards Cavalgese di Riviera. Enjoy the wonderful views of Lake Garda, which glistens like a blue-green emerald in the sun. Along the Naviglio Grande, a canal with an adjacent cycle path, you soon reach Brescia. The charming provincial capital of Lombardy is rich in buildings from different eras. It is surrounded by hills dotted with small villages. In the middle of the city is the Cidneo hill with the Visconti castle. Enjoy the magnificent view over the old town from up here before taking the train back to Lake Garda.
