Itinerary

Day 1

Individual arrival in Romano Canavese

You arrive in the charming town of Romano Canavese, nestled amidst the rolling green hills of Piedmont. Founded in 100 BC as a Roman military encampment, the town’s rich history is still evident, with the ancient castle tower being one of the few remnants from that era. Settle into your hotel and take some time to explore the village, enjoying its picturesque streets and tranquil atmosphere.

Day 2

Excursion to Lago di Candia

approx. 40 km

The first part of your cycling tour through the Piedmont leads you south along the serene Dora Baltea River. Take a break at the stunning Lago di Candia, an almost untouched lake located in this protected nature reserve. Take a refreshing swim in its clear waters before continuing your journey, tackling the 4-kilometer ascent to the moraine hills. Afterward, make your way back to Romano Canavese along the scenic Royal Wine Route, enjoying the picturesque landscapes and rich vineyards along the way.

Day 3

Excursion to Ivrea

approx. 50 km

Cycle north along the Dora Baltea, taking in the breathtaking views of the river landscape as you go. Pause to explore the medieval town center of Ivrea, renowned for its vibrant history, including the famous Carnevale d'Ivrea—an annual event known for the iconic Battle of Oranges. Afterward, continue your ride towards two picturesque mountain lakes near Ivrea, before making your way back along the ancient St. Francis path, immersing yourself in the region's natural beauty and historical charm.

Day 4

Excursion to Turin

approx. 60 km + train ride

In the morning, board the train to Torino, a city brimming with cultural and architectural treasures. Highlights include the iconic Mole Antonelliana and the stunning Duomo di San Giovanni cathedral, both architectural masterpieces. After a guided tour of the city, embark on a scenic route along the river Po, making your way back to Romano Canavese. Along the way, be sure to stop in the charming town of Chivasso and visit the historic Castello Mazzo, a castle that has long stood as a sentinel over the valley.

Day 5

Excursion to Lago di Viverone

approx. 40 km

For those seeking a challenge, start the day with a steep 2-kilometer ascent to the impressive Castello di Masino. Alternatively, if you prefer a more leisurely beginning, enjoy a gentle ride through rolling hills, passing charming villages with historic buildings and quaint castles. Along the lake promenade of Viverone, take advantage of the many scenic spots perfect for a refreshing dip. Later, cycle back to Romano Canavese, winding through picturesque orchards that dot the landscape.

Day 6

Excursion to the Moraine Hills

approx. 35 km

On today's stage of your bike tour through the Piedmont you will have the oppertunity to explore the stunning nature. Cycle through vast cornfields towards the majestic Castello di Pavone, where the imposing double-reinforced castle walls enclose a charming courtyard and the fortress's striking main building. After exploring the castle, tackle the ascent to the moraine hills, challenging yourself with the climb. The final stretch of your journey takes you along the scenic Royal Wine Route, where you’ll be rewarded with an exhilarating descent back to Romano Canavese for the last leg of your adventure.
